Student Certifications
For Students & Parents
Q: What are industry certifications?
A: Industry certifications are official credentials that show you’ve learned specific technical skills. Employers and colleges recognize them. Examples include design software, engineering tools, and digital media programs.
Q: Why earn certifications in high school?
A: Certifications give you a head start. They show colleges and employers you’re ready, make your applications stronger, and can help you get internships or jobs.
Q: How much do certifications cost?
A: Most certifications in LAUSD CTE programs are free for students because of special grants and partnerships.
Q: Do certifications expire?
A: Some last forever, while others need to be renewed. Teachers and our department will help you know when renewals are needed.
For Schools & Teachers
Q: How can schools offer certifications?
A: Schools work with the CTE Linked Learning office, which handles vendor contracts, licenses, and training. Teachers get the tools they need to prepare students.
Q: What support do teachers get?
A: We provide professional development, classroom resources, and direct vendor help. We also recognize schools and teachers through the CERTS awards program for student certification success.
For Vendors & Industry Partners
Q: How can a company partner with LAUSD?
A: Companies can contact the CTE Linked Learning office to start the approval process. Partnerships are reviewed to meet district rules and connect to student career pathways.
Q: What are the benefits for vendors?
A: Vendors reach a large and diverse group of students, test certifications in real classrooms, and help build a pipeline of future professionals trained in their tools and technology.
